Scope of Work:
The position will support the Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) effort as a Senior Test Engineer responsible for overseeing testing strategy, AI/automation initiatives, quality assurance processes, and coordination of a team up to twelve test engineers supporting a fast paced Agile and DevSecOps environment.
The Senior Test Engineer will drive the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of scalable automated testing frameworks and testing pipelines supporting cloud native and enterprise applications hosted within AWS environments. This role will work closely with software engineers, DevOps engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure, and high-quality software releases across multiple environments.
The position requires a strong technical background in automated testing, DevOps integration, CI/CD pipelines, and test management practices. The ideal candidate must be comfortable operating in a high visibility environment, managing competing priorities, promoting continuous process improvement, and leading teams through demanding delivery schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of test engineers supporting the MFOM platform and related applications
- Develop and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks and enterprise testing strategies
- Coordinate and execute functional, regression, integration, performance, and end to end testing activities
- Support Agile and DevSecOps software delivery processes within AWS cloud environments
- Collaborate with development teams to improve application quality, test coverage, and release reliability
- Support and enhance automated testing platforms and tools including Zephyr and TAF
- Support the transition of automation testing to a new product: Quality Watcher
- Identify testing gaps, process inefficiencies, and automation opportunities across the software lifecycle
- Track testing metrics, defects, risks, and quality trends while providing status updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Assist with troubleshooting application issues and validating defect remediation activities
- Ensure testing activities comply with cybersecurity, configuration management, and operational requirements
- Participate in technical planning sessions, sprint activities, release planning, and production validation efforts
- Maintain testing documentation, procedures, and technical artifacts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Certifications in test automation, software quality assurance, Agile methodologies, or cloud technologies
- Experience leading testing teams within Agile or DevSecOps environments
- Experience supporting AWS cloud hosted applications and services
- Experience with enterprise CI/CD pipelines and GitLab automation workflows
- Familiarity with Navy or Department of Defense software development and testing environments
Requirements/Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation engineering
- 3+ years of experience leading or coordinating testing teams
- Experience developing scalable automated testing frameworks and automation strategies
- Experience with automated testing tools, scripting, and DevOps integration
- Strong understanding of CI/CD processes and modern software delivery practices
- Experience working in fast paced, high visibility technical environments
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities, resolve conflicts, and drive testing efforts to completion
- Ability to follow procedures accurately and escalate issues appropriately
- Motivated to learn new technologies and grow technical expertise
- Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance
